Tragic Captivity
As I walked into the flower shop near my house the smell of white roses stream through my nose. White roses were Emma's favorite because they signify true love. This was going to be the day I would propose to my beloved Emma. I turned while smelling the roses, I suddenly beginning to feel dizzy. There was a big thud as collapsed to the hard wooden floor. As I was becoming unconscious I saw a stranger's face.
When I woke up, I was in a glass box unable to move or speak. At first I didn't know what was happening until I saw a monster looking back at me. I realized that this wasn't a monster but my own reflection. I had no skin just bones and muscles. I thought my heart would be thumping out of my chest but I couldn't feel anything, nothing at all.
I lost track of how many days I spent locked in this dark room filled with cargo boxes. Everyday there would be less and less boxes. I tried to yell at the people who carried the boxes out, but no one seemed to hear me. After many ineffective tries, I gave up, no one would ever hear me nor save me.
Then one day they grabbed me. As they rolled me out I could hear faint voices and cries from babies. When I rolled out into the light everything went silent. The first thing I saw was someone who looked similar to me but had no insides. His major organs were all gone, his muscles were clinging from his body, no skin or hair was on his face, and his eyes popped out as if he was scared to death.
As they put me in my designated spot, I began to hear voices again. I thought my subconscious was the one talking but it was my new neighbor. She introduced herself as Marta, she had been there for so long that she couldn't remember her last name. She explained to me why we were here, she said that they were trying to see if they could make humans immortal and free of all illnesses. When they're done they put us on display for human entertainment. At first I couldn't believe what I was hearing but there was no other explanation.
I've seen thousands of faces stare at me while I stare back. Some were couples holding hands, bringing back wonderful memories of Emma. Some were rowdy children who left finger prints on the glass box I was in. I've seen classes of students all over America. At first I was outraged because they did this to me and not to them. Then jealousy rose among me because they can do everything I can't. After all that, I realized that nothing is going to change so I might as well accept it.
All the faces have began to mush together after being here for many years. I think about Emma every day and what our lives could of been like. I can no longer see myself as human being. Watch your back because you may be next...
