Homecoming parade
School spirit surges through North Sevier High for Homecoming. Students are getting ready for the football game, but first comes the age old tradition; the parade! But what is a parade without the floats? There are some great floats this year put together by some great people. There are quite a few and we couldn't get interviews with all of them but we managed to receive a few.
Leading the parade are the Homecoming King and Queen, Taylor Christensen and Collin Rasmussen. They rode in the back of a gorgeous white convertible while their attendants rode in the back of a Ford truck. They really were a glamorous start to our "parade of tributes."
The senior class seems to be getting senior-itis a bit early this year. They were having fun in the sun with a pool-themed float complete with water guns, floaties, and a back-of-the-truck pool. They weren't afraid to let the water guns loose on the parade goers as well as the students on other floats.
Another water loving float was put on by the junior class. The juniors are ramped up this homecoming, especially after taking the gold medal in the lip sync competition. Armed with water guns and candy, the juniors are definitely ready to spread Wolf Pride to the community.
The Sweet Reads club had a lot of collaborative ideas that went into their float. They focused around the Hunger Games theme, using the book jackets to decorate the side of the wagon they rode on. In addition to throwing candy they entertained their audience with a battle between North Sevier (portrayed by Erica Banks) and Parowan (played by Doms Jensen).
Finally, we got a word with our football team. Mason Diesel sponsored the football team with a flatbed trailer and truck. Our proud wolves shared their excitement with the crowd, getting the community pumped up for the game that night.
Water guns, sword fighting, cheers, and champions; all were key in getting the residents of North Sevier ready for the homecoming football game against Parowan.

NS Creativity on Display
Homecoming week has come and gone. This years windows showed off many sports and classes artistic talents. The soccer girls painted Moms Cafe's Window, they did paw prints with their numbers in them. They also wrote, "Manti, may the odds never be in your favor."
FCCLA artistically decorated Dr. Asper's Windows. They did a clever depiction of a Wolf with an arrow aimed at the Ram, and also used the saying, “May the odds be ever in your favor”.
Freshman painted Hot Spot with the saying,"Volunteer as tribute" with a football and NS logo, along with a "Go Wolves."
Drill Team created a masterpiece on the windows of N&B Dance Studio, with the teams name on the front, and, "The Winning Tributes of 2014 Homecoming Games."
FFA cleverly painted the windows of the new motel, Hitch 'N' Post Inn, with "Fight to the Finish”, and “Farmers End Hunger…..Games”. They also painted farmers working with shovels and pitch forks.
Cheerleaders proudly colored the NAPA windows with arrows and each girls name was in a paw print. They used the words, "Fight to the Finish."
Seniors creativly painted Burns Saddlery with a wolf on fire, and a ram cooking over a fire on a stick. Nice job seniors!
The sophomores painted Show Time, and Curt D. Photography. They did a wolf , bows, arrows and the words,"Class of 2017,".
Now, the most talked about window was the Junior's. Their painting was featured on the windows of Home Spun Love. They wrote,”Rocking With Wolf Spirit”, along with the depiction of a NS helmet, a Parowan helmet, and a mocking jay holding a football in its beak. Keaten Mickelsen stated that she thought the Juniors windows were decorated well with the homecoming theme, the designs were cool and realistic. The Juniors window was by far her favorite.
Each group that painted windows did a fantastic job, and helped show school pride in each of their creations.

Hide and Peek
On September 22, 2014 North Sevier High School dressed up for a day they called "Camo Day". Each student was asked to dress in their favorite camo. The Journalism class interviewed a few of those students and teachers who dressed up. Mr. Peterson dressed up in camouflage boots, vest, and pants. Mr. Peterson said that he had bought his vest when he was 14 for hunting, and his camo pants were from a friend named John Baldwin from North Carolina. His reason for wearing his camouflage was, "To show support for homecoming week". He wore every piece of camouflage he owned. Students gave him compliments on his camo all day.
Caleb Peterson (AKA Ghillie suit man), stated that his grandfather lent him the suit. He wanted to stand out, “ Its not every day you see someone wearing a ghillie suit.” It was a last minute decision to wear this suit of wonder, Caleb felt that he was very successful in his goal to stand out. He was given many compliments and said, “ Yes, almost everyone who walked past me would compliment me. They would say something like,” whoa! Thats cool!”or “Wow! You took it to the extreme!”.

Pep Assembly
The North Sevier High School students were entertained at the pep assembly on Thursday September 25. The cheerleaders rocked and rolled to their routine bringing excited cheers from the students. The Uniques also showed off their moves to their Jazz Routine that got some hoots and hollers from the crowd. The new school mascot was introduced to the wolf pack and the student body gave him a name. The mascot will now be known as Waldo the Wolf. A new chapter of the games began.
The cheer squad earned a standing ovation from the crowd when they preformed some fancy moves to the Beasty Boys song “Burr Sick ‘em”. Although the girls knew the dance they had an early morning practice to perfect their routine. Even with the little practice they had, the cheersquad entertained with their killer performance.
The uniques had a disaster days before the assembly, two of the uniques were injured. They practiced weeks for their military routine debut but, it required their two fallen soldiers. The team came together and combined their talent, school spirit and wolf pride, to give the students an amazing performance that wowed the crowd.
The long anticipated school mascot was presented by the SBO at the conclusion of the assembly. The only problem the officers faced was something that the student body was able to solve. The students were able to choose from three names, Willy, Wiley, and Waldo. The name Waldo as stated earlier, was clearly chosen with loud cheers, and the new North Sevier mascot was born.
School spirit was rallied Thursday with some amazing performances and debuts at the pep assembly. Cheer and drill did amazing with their pop locking and dropping and a school mascot was born and named Waldo. I'd say it was a pretty successful day for NSHS.

Lip Sync
The Lip Sync is where the student body, along with the faculty, come together and compete against each other with stage preformed music videos. They use different mash-ups of songs and preform their skits to the best of their ability. The groups that competed this year were the Seniors, Juniors, Sophmores, Cheer, Drama, and Faculty.
The senior class performed to the song "Sideburns" by Tobuscus. They had three guys up front playing the piano, and girls that came in with very hairy sideburns. This idea was given to them by Jarica Otten who came to them and showed them the song, said Allison Peterson. The audience had a very good time watching them preform.
The junior class put together an excellent sync, involving a crowd of nerds and a jock. The jock played by Brett Miller, was beat up by all the nerds. The day was saved when Trevor Okerlund came in singing "Let it Go" from Disney's Frozen. Not only did he save the day, he brought the nerds and the jock together. Together they rocked out with Shaiden Bumgardener to the Harlem Shake.
The sophomore class came up with Dancing with the Tributes. Different tributes came onto the stage and competed against each other. Briley Butler and Kodi McKinley narrated the whole show as it went on, every district did a really good job. The audience seemed to have a good time watching the contestants. In the end the winners were, Abbie Porter and Mitch Sorensen.
Drama showed up on stage with an upbeat song and a lot of attitude. As a club they really rocked the stage. As they danced around on stage you could see that they were really confident in what they were doing. They showed some awesome flips, tricks, and turns. The song they preformed to "Mamba No. 5" by Lou Bega.
The faculty came to show up all the other performing groups and they preformed with amazing confidence. They busted out some Disney favorites and some songs from the here and now.that they thought would go best with the scene. The audience really loved watching them and they gave everyone a good laugh.
The show was really well done and the audience enjoyed it. Everybody who competed did a really good job. In the past the faculty has held the first place title but this year the first place title went to the Junior class, second place went to the faculty, and third went to the sophomores.
THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR ALL OF YOUR HARD WORK!!

Homecoming Dates
Boys have been waiting all year to ask that special someone to this years homecoming dance. This was the 44th annual homecoming dance, and it’s theme was "The Homecoming Games". We're going to take a deeper look into the dates that went to the dance this year.
Autumn and Kason had a fiery orange and black color scheme. Autumn wore a beautiful fluffy orange dress and black heels. Kason wore a white dress shirt with a orange tie matching her dress. They planned this special night two weeks before the dance and were beyond excited for this year's homecoming. Kason took Autumn bowling during the day, then took her home to get ready for a group dinner. The last thing they did was head to the dance with their group of friends. Autumn and Kason loved homecoming and said, "It was a blast!
Kirsten and Tyler had a silver and black color scheme. Tyler was super sweet and even asked her parents for permission. Kirsten wore an amazing black dress. Tyler wore a black dress shirt with a silver and black tie. Kirsten was super excited because she would attend homecoming with her best friend. They had been planning this night for a week before the dance. Instead of just the two of them, they invited their friends and they had a group date. They totally loved this year's homecoming.
Akir and Tabitha rocked the colors grey and silver. It was also Tabitha's birthday so Akir had a surprise party prepared for her. Akir kept all his plans a secret, when asked if he was excited he said, "Heck yeah, it's gonna be awesome!" Tabitha was really happy and surprised by Akir's plans. Akir made a mistake though, Tabitha hates chocolate cake. Akir, who was unaware of that, had ordered a 6x12 inch chocolate cake for her party. To make the day perfect for her he ordered another custom made cake for Tabi's surprise party.
This was a special night for many not just the dates that we interviewed. The homecoming dance was a huge success. Thanks to everyone that attended and helped to make this day special.

FOOTBALL FIELD MOVIE NIGHT
While waiting for my ride to arrive I stood by the front door, and watched out the window. As I folded the blankets I planned on bringing, I saw headlights pull into my driveway. Throwing my blankets into the trunk of the car I jumped into the passenger seat. When we pulled up to the high school I scooped up my blankets, and headed to the bleachers to find my friends. I stood at the bottom of the bleachers looking left then right when I heard someone hollering my name. I lifted my head and saw all my friends sitting at the top of the bleachers. I smiled, waved, and headed up the stairs towards them. It ended up being a great night with friends! Thank you SBO for putting this fun filled movie night for the school.
