FFA SUU Contest
On September 30th, 2014 North Sevier FFA ventured down to SUU in Cedar City for a judging contest. At SUU there are 4 contests to compete in; Livestock Judging, Horse Judging, Range, & Agronomy. Livestock team A consisted of; Trevor Carlisle, Brett Miller, Dillon Torgerson, & Kalista Jacobsen. Livestock team B consisted of; Ashlin Goble, Tahlia Acevedo, Jacob Chamberlain, and McKell Christensen. Horse Team A consisted of; Cahmia Dearden, Abbi Havey, Cambrie Hales & JaKel Quarnberg. Horse team B consisted of; Boe Crane, Kayona Curtis, & Wyatt Andreason.
At this contest JaKel scored a 191 out of 200 in the horse judging Contest and won first place overall. In an interview she was asked a few questions. "What was your experience judging?", "It was very fair and it was a very good learning experience." Stated JaKel. "How do you practice judging horse?", "With me owning horses over the years I know what to look for and I know if it is a good or bad horse." She said. "What made you want to start judging horses?", "I've been around horses my entire life so it just came natural." JaKel answered. "How confident we're you walking into the contest?", "I was really nervous because it was the first contest of my sophomore year but after the halter class I was pretty confident." Said JaKel. "What advice would you give other horse judges?", "Never second guess yourself, always go with your 1st instinct." JaKel stated.
